Have you ever wondered what time it is? I’m not taking clock time, but the timing in your life on what should I do, should be doing, have done, should not do. Ever feel like you are stagnant, and every day is the same. God tells us we have times we should be or should not be doing things. In this passage of scripture God lays out some very interesting phrases that sometimes we overlook.

ECCLESIASTES 3:1-8

(1)To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: (2)a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; (3)a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; (4)a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; (5)a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; (6)a time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; (7)a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; (8)a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

What season are you in? I find it interesting as I was reading this that I do not pay attention to what season I am in. Then as I started thinking, I realize that at any given moment I am probably going through some of these at the same time. As I read through all of these, I find it interesting that God says some of these things. Time for war, Time for hate, Time to die, Time to lose, etc. You can view these as very negative, but in the end picture God is telling us about ups and downs we will face, and we will need to take certain actions. Throughout the Old Testament we saw a lot of wars and still today many conflicts are happening. Is it that time? There are things of this world we should hate; I can name many, especially anything that is against God’ s values. Time to Die, how would we know? Jesus knew exactly when it was for Him to die or not to die. John 7:6 He clearly says it is not His time, but it is our time. If you read from verse 1 you will get the context. That He purposely did not travel through a certain area for they sought to kill Him. And then we can go on and read about Jesus’s crucifixion and leading up to it Him telling His disciples of His upcoming death. (Could you imagine telling those close to you this is how I am going to die in the next few days.)

Think of what season you are in. Maybe in you are experiencing many of these at the same time. As I am getting ready to post this on the web site, I can say just in the past day many of my seasons have changed. Though some of them are like I said above seeming to be negative, we will always need to wait on God for His work to be perfectly accomplished. Some seasons are like very cold bitter winters, but we will need to stay true to our faith in God to help us through these times, good and bad.

It is presumed that King Solomon wrote parts of Ecclesiastes at the later part of his life and he was describing life and what he had learned from it.  That you are not in control, but God always is.  Just as the seasons of the year we cannot control, as are the seasons of our own lives.  Everything has its own timing.
Two definitions of season in the Merriam-Webster dictionary are "a time
characterized by a particular circumstance or feature"  and "a suitable or natural time or occasion."   That can definitely describe phases throughout our lives also.
What we learn from our seasons in life, whether it be the ups and downs: life/death, happiness/sadness,  wins/losses, good/bad, etc... there is always a purpose in there for us to learn, whether we recognize it or not, we should try to learn understanding and wisdom.  Keeping our faith even in our bad seasons gives us strength and encouragement in God's  love for us.  How we act/react to our seasons also determines  how we lean on God during those times.   We should thank and praise God in our good seasons and bad seasons.  You know the old saying, "things could be worse,"  when we think things are so bad or tough.
King Solomon was considered one of the wisest men. And he knew God is always in control, everything is timed for what Gods purpose is.  Not our purpose.   Nothing is a constant in this life.  God has determined our birth and death. None of us will escape hurt or sorrow in this life.
In  KJV Eccl 3:11-13  we are told God has done it all in His way in His time, man cannot find out what God made from beginning to end. We are to be good and righteous and rejoice in this life, that it is God's gift to be happy.  It is already planned.
So our circumstances in life are not random or by chance, but God has already planned them. So we have to understand no matter what season we are going thru, God is with us because he planned it already.  For his purpose and reasoning, not ours.  And some of those seasons we may go thru we will not understand, but the one constant thing is God is right there with us no matter what. When things seem the worst or the best, He still  holds us close to Him. How close are we holding on to God during good and bad seasons in our own lives?
Every day of our life is God given.  That's our foundation for life, He has already had His hand in it.  Trust Him.   What can we thank Him for today?

Theses season are all trials of our faith.
1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
1 Peter 1:7 that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

We always want our Christian life to be nothing but a walk in the park. But in order for us to grow and mature, we must experience ups and downs in our life. Therefore it is crucial to understand the season we are in to truly understand what it is God is showing us and what we need to work on in our life.
