 We talked last week about God creating all the Earth for us to have. We were to replenish, care for and live off all that he has given us. We can say we would all agree that we are to be good stewards with the resources of the Earth, the animals, and vegetation. I want to expand on this a little more with our topic today. When we listen to the current news, we here of doom and gloom of we are using too much of our resources, we will run out in -fill in the blank – years and the end of civilization. And so, we start hearing even from our world leaders this fear mongering to get us to do what they believe is the correct way to "save” the planet/humanity. We start finding ourselves using” I am afraid”, "I fear” a lot when it comes to our own humanity. I am not talking about the petty things like I am afraid of spiders and such, I do believe that is more of an irrational take on the word fear. I do find when we hear a lot in what is going on in the World especially in politics, we can get ourselves caught up on this fear anxiety and allow it to effect our daily lives.

So lets look at some scriptures.

The book of Joel Joel Chapter 2

(21) Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things. (22) Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength. (23) Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. (24) And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil. (25) And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. (26) And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. (27) And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

In this passage of Joel writes in response of locusts destroying the land. He describes them as an invading army, and symbolizing the greater destruction to those who do not repent and heed the word of the prophet. I like how he uses the resources for providing in describing the great things God will do. Read the whole chapter it is rich.

 When I read this I think of how far our world governments have abandoned God and now with their power are playing god in the abuse of power when it comes to trying to manipulate the population. We can at time see them as an invading army with the policies and tactics they enforce. I am not trying to make any political statement. It is usually world leaders/organizations that try to instill this fear across the world. The one thing to note is there is always a "happy ending", with God. Yes, we will see and have to endure tough times, but God always promises to restore.

 If you get a chance, go and read Luke Chapter 12 verses 22-31. I shared in the comments last week. We should never fear or be afraid about what is said concerning the welfare and contents of this world. God will always provide for us.

 There is so much that can be said about the word fear and how we have allowed it to infiltrate our lives. There are more areas in our life we can see where fear creeps in, but just wanted to finish off with what we were talking about last week.
