Halland News – The Halland Military has announced that several combat units are now outfitted with the newest mobile surface-to-air (SAM) missile system. These mobile air defenses have a rotating turret capable of tracking aerial targets and launching two interceptor missiles simultaneously.

This weapon system is designed to shoot down aircraft, helicopters, and larger unmanned aerial vehicles. However, this weapon system is not meant to engage smaller drones as these interceptors are very costly. The Halland military does have a significant number of interceptors on order.  However, the Halland military is exploring ways to make these interceptors more cost effective and are working with several defense contractors.

According to the military, the following combat units have been outfitted with mobile SAM missile systems.

Halland News – Despite publicly highlighting its newly counter-drone capabilities, Hallville has disclosed little about how these assets would be operationally employed. Intelligence obtained by the Halland Intelligence Agency (HIA) provides insight into portions of the Hallville military’s classified doctrine for countering unmanned aerial systems.

Pictured is Hallville’s adaptation of the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System (CIWS), a rapid-fire, radar-guided defensive weapon traditionally deployed aboard naval vessels. Designed as a last line of defense, the system can engage incoming aircraft, drones, and other high-speed threats. With a firing rate of approximately 4,500 rounds per minute, the CIWS can autonomously detect, track, assess, and neutralize targets within seconds, utilizing advanced search and tracking radar technologies.
