North of Evelynland, Halland – General Amongstus’ deadline for the Militia expired late last night and as the sun rose this morning, not a single member of the Militia surrendered. General Amongstus gave the orders for the 2nd Infantry Division to engage the Militia which was dug into the mountains of Southwestern Halland.
Four large Artillery pieces began pounding Militia positions in the mountains which broke the morning silence. The thundering sound of artillery lasted roughly 30 minutes. Then it fell silent again.
Hours later, the Commander of the 2nd Infantry acknowledged that General Amongstus has turned over all Military Operations over to the 2nd Infantry Division which is supported by the Halland Field Artillery Division and Halland Special Operations.
"Today, I have been given orders to engage the Militia which is attempting to cause unrest within Halland,” stated the Commander. "At this point, we will continue to engage Militia positions in the mountains until we feel comfortable making an assault into the mountainous terrain. We will also use every asset we can in order to complete the objective. As of right now, we have no information on Militia casualties and probably won’t know until the next phase of the operation begins.”
The commander also acknowledged that Special Operations have been obtaining intelligence on enemy positions the last couple of days which aided the Field Artillery Division this morning.
It is unsure how many Militia members have taken up arms but Halland Intelligence estimates it to be close to 100 personnel.
This is the second Military Operation that Halland has had to endure over the last 6 months. In July 2015, Halland forces, in partnership with McDonaldland ground troops and Hallville, had to re-take the town of Annabelle which came at a high price.
Already, Halland has declared war on the Hall Republic and is still deciding on a course of action with HSSR. The uprising of the Militia comes at a terrible time for the Halland Government with Divisions spread out pretty thin.
The 1st Infantry Division is still located on or near the DMZ and the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Division which has replenished their personnel sit on the outskirts of The Hall Republic. Both the 10th and 20th Tank Divisions also reside near both borders.
