Southwest, Halland – Now 10 days into the Military Operation against the Militia, The Halland Military has been gaining ground in the mountainous region. Pictured above is the Commander assessing Militia casualties.
The 2nd Infantry commander had this to say on the update of the operation:
"We are still in the second phase of the operation which is clearing the mountains. Already we have pulled 9 dead Militia members from the mountainside and we expect many more in the coming days. However, we have discovered an extensive tunneling system in which artillery was probably ineffective at reaching. So as you would imagine, it makes the operation that much more tedious and we have to be cautious. Clearly the Militia was in this for the long haul and had been preparing for this for quite some time.”
The Commander also stated that there have been no Halland Casualties so far but is hopeful that they can keep it that way. "We are going against a pretty dug in force which doesn’t fight like we do. Without having any casualties so far is a testament to the training that they endure.”
When pressed for how much longer this operation will last, the Commander assured that it could last a little longer than expected due to the network of tunnels found but that they have only cleared 20% of the terrain.
It is unsure if the Militia Leader is hiding out or is still located in the mountains. Special Operations teams have been reassigned further north of the mountains to establish a perimeter in order to prevent Militia members escaping. The 2nd Infantry Division is operating on two fronts. Half of the Division is clearing the mountains from the south while the other half has set up a perimeter east of the mountains. The Coast on the West provides a natural barrier.
