"You Mean I Can’t Celebrate with the Opposing Team’s Victory?”

Written by Wendi

Saturday started out rough for a bunch of us after losing some high points on Cincinnati.  With back-to-back turnovers in the first half, West Virginia got 10 points, and they had the lead 17-7 at the half.  By all accounts, Cincinnati should have won the game but after turning the ball over three times, the Bearcats lost 31-24.

Remember when Syracuse started the season 2-0 and their coaches were thanking Ohio State for letting Kyle McCord go?  Yeah, those days are long gone. Apparently, their coach also seems to think he doesn’t deserve to use soap when he showers after a loss. Syracuse dropped their game to Boston College 37-31 in a close game.

Texas State traveled to Louisiana Monroe to face the Warhawks and it was all Bobcats with a 28-0 lead at halftime.  Despite the final score of 38-17, it wasn’t even close if you watched the game.  Both teams still need one win to become bowl eligible and Monroe is on a three-game losing streak.

How does the saying go?  "You can’t keep kicking field goals while the other team scores touchdowns?”

Well, that held true in the Duke and NC State game.  NC State got its first touchdown with over 9 minutes left in the game.  The final was 29-19 Duke.

Ol’ Hotty Toddy - this game was fun, wasn’t it?  With it pouring rain and Carson Beck (Timmmmayy) doing what he does best (turnovers), this game wasn’t  close by any means.  The sad part is, you could see him smiling on the sidelines like it was a joke and that his team was winning.  With NIL, I can’t blame the guy, he is getting paid a lot of money just to be there.  Maybe NIL should be based on performance?  What’s even worse, a Georgia player was celebrating with Ole Miss after the game. I get that they went to high school together, but dude, not a good look.  Ole Miss won by 3 scores 28-10.

Speaking of pouring rain… Alabama traveled to Death Valley for a night game in a top 15 matchup.  We all know what happens there at night, right?  Well apparently, not that night.  It was all Crimson Tide 42-13.  Shame on you for picking against your team David.  It’s bad juju.

Maybe Colorado is for real!  Would Colorado have the same record in the Big Ten or in the SEC?   Probably not.  It’s not like the Big 12 is stacked.  After upsetting Iowa St the previous week, Texas Tech had a lot of momentum leading up to this matchup but fell flat at home 41-27.

Oh Vandy, Oh Vandy, where art thou?  Did you think that after beating the whole state of Alabama, you didn’t have to show up to play South Carolina?  At least that’s what it looked like.  After a slow start in the first half for the Gamecocks, they put the foot on the pedal and cruised past Vandy 28-7.

UCF, you had one job…kneel in the endzone after muffing the ball on the kickoff. Don’t wait until the other team is right on you and then suddenly decide to come out of the endzone which almost caused a safety.  The ensuing play was a pick six for Arizona State which put them up 21-17 at the half.  The Sun Devils went on to win in a back and forth second half, 35-31.

With Brady Cook out for Missouri, did it hinder the offense against Oklahoma?  The game was tied with just under a minute left in the game, all Oklahoma needed to do was get down field and kick a field goal to win it out.  Missouri won on a scoop and score to seal the game.  Tigers won 30-23.

FUN FACT:  Games I'm glad that weren’t on the picks:  Miami vs. Georgia Tech, Iowa State vs. Kansas, Virginia vs. Pittsburg, Rutgers vs. Minnesota

On to Pick’em’s…

Cindy, Sam, and I are still holding on for dear life to the top three spots.  Can we hold out for the next few weeks or will one or all of us start to tumble?  David was able to gain on first place since I had an "average” week.  Maybe I need to just start playing conservative instead of taking risks? That hurt me this week.

Is that Rick I see in 6th place?  It’s a Christmas Thanksgiving Miracle.  Honestly Rick, how does it feel?  Feels good, doesn’t it?  Mike M. did himself no favors by not keeping pace with David this week.  He now sits nine points behind 4th place.  How on earth does Mike H. keep winning?  If inconsistent had a picture in the dictionary, Mike H.’s photo would be there.  Too bad he’s not in first place.

Below is everyone’s outlook of finishing in the top 3 spots with only three more weeks left:

Thanks for playing, try again next year: Evelyn, Sean, Kim, Adam, & Marc (sorry not sorry)

On the verge of joining the above category: Megan, Mike H., Noah, & Rick

It’s possible: Sam, Davd, & Mike M.

Just don’t screw it up: Wendi and Cindie

Most points for the week:  For the 3rd time in four weeks, Mike H. has won the weekly $10.  But the problem is, he’s still in 8th place!  I am willing to bet he’ll bomb this week.

Least points for the week:  Sean and Evelyn tied for the least amount of points this week.  Are you even trying at this point?

Best pick of the week: Both Mikes’ picking West Virginia over Cincinnati meant a lot of us lost out on some big points.  Kudos to Sean, Rick, and I picking Ole Miss to upset Georgia.

Worst pick of the week:  It was a risky move on my part, but putting 7-points on UCF probably wasn’t the best idea.  But I’m still in first.  Doesn’t that count for something?

Here are the rankings heading into Week 12:
