1.     We must give Him our trust that we will follow Him under any circumstance, and He is who He says He is.

·        Proverbs 3:5. "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

·        Verse  6. "In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

2.     We must take the promises he has set before us.

·        Philippians 4:19   "My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Jesus Christ.”

·        Isaiah 53:5   "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes, we are healed.”

·        Romans 8:1   There is therefore no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

·        Hebrews 13:5 "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have, for He hath said, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.”

There is one word that compromises our trust and us holding on to His promises.    (IF)

EX: If the Lord wants me healed I will be healed.

If God wants me to have something, he will give it to me.

If it be God’s will, it will be done.

Those sayings mean, I do not really trust what He is willing to do for me, and I really don’t know what promises he has given me. The Ifs do not stand on truth as the above verses do.

Let’s spend more time in God’s word and in prayer to see what he desires in our lives instead of what we want. Let us not walk on assumption (Ifs), but on truth.

I always hear alot of people say "If its the Lord's/God's will". But you are absolutely correct on that and it is something I never thought about like that.

Yes Wendi, Many Christians use that term often. Ephesians 5:17 says for us to not be unwise, but to know what the will of God is.

When it comes to facing issues and trusting in The Lord. I find the best way to stay out of "IFy" territory is
A) Praise and glorify God for the blessings in my life
B) state my needs clearly to the Lord in prayer - be specific [Mike can relate I'm not very clear in communication]
C) Pray for the Gift of Patience and Understanding - of God's will
D) Be patient, be quiet in prayer and listen - God may be trying to tell me something
E) Whether my prayer is answered my way or not, give Thanks and Praise again because he always hears me and gives me the strength to endure
F) Meditate, what have I learned in the struggle and how can I grow in my spiritual life and how can I share what I've learned with others.

D is still a struggle for me.

Yes. alot of people use the word "if". I try to catch myself when I start thinking like that because I know that when I do start thinking like that it definitely means I don't have trust in what He can do.
