Family Iron Bowl 2006
Youngstown, Florida - Quarterback David Hall rushed for three scores and also threw for two more touchdowns as Alabama cruised to a 37-25 win over rival Auburn on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Unlike a year ago, both defenses showed up early and often for a low scoring and hard hitting first half.
Alabama’s offense finally got the ball moving towards the end of the first quarter after a few Auburn defensive stands and got on the board after wide receiver Matt Boyce caught a strike from David to make it 6-0. Stand-out place kicker Gretchen Hall missed the extra point.
During the second quarter trailing 6-0, Auburn quarterback Teddy Hall heaved a deep ball to running back Mike Hall who came down with and walked into the end zone after the defender went down to make it a 6-6 game. The Auburn offense opted to go for two but the pass fell incomplete. Just before halftime Alabama marched right down the field to make it 12-6 after David found Marc Hall on a quick out route to take the lead going into halftime.
Alabama opened the third quarter up with an electrifying 99-yard touchdown run by quarterback David Hall to open the game up 18-6. This time the extra point was made by Donnie Saldana to extend the lead 19-6.
