10/2/2010 (Chelsea, AL) – Alabama survived a scare in the Hall Iron Bowl winning a 56-48 shoot-out against rival Auburn. Combined, the amount of points scored in 2010 are the second highest points since 2005 in which 126 points were scored.
Auburn opened the scoring on a 12- yard TD reception by Teddy Hall on their first possession to take a 6-0 lead. Alabama would answer the following series to tie the game 6-6 thanks to a 3-yard TD reception by Cindie. Both teams failed on the 2-pt conversions. Both teams would tack on two scores each in the 2nd Quarter. Auburn scored on two design runs from QB Mike Hall and Alabama scored on a design run by QB David Hall. Marc Hall also found the endzone for the Tide on a 3-yard TD recption. Auburn hit on both 2-point conversions with Alabama missing one in which the Tide trailed 22-20 at the half.
Both offenses' came out roaring in the second half which saw Auburn scoring on each possession in the 3rd Quarter. Alabama scored first on a QB Scramble from 2-yards out to take the lead for the first time 26-22. The Tide managed to convert the 2-point conversion to extend the lead 28-22. Auburn would answer with a quick touchdown strike of their own as Mike hauled in a 13-yard TD pass from Teddy to tie the game 28-28.
Auburn would add on another score this time by Teddy hauling in a 9-yard pass from Mike to wrestle the lead back 34-28. Alabama would again answer this time with D.J. Saldana on a 6-yard TD reception from David to tie the game 34-34. Marc would convert the 2-point conversion for the Tide to regain the lead 36-34. The Tigers added another score thanks to a 13-yard TD pass from Teddy to Mike. The 2-point converison was successful as Auburn would lead heading into the 4th quarter 42-36.
