Family Iron Bowl 2007 San Marcos, Texas - Alabama continued it’s domination over rival Auburn in stunning fashion with a 60-28 upset on the road. With several key players out for the game, Alabama was still able to stuff the Auburn offense and move the ball at will on what was supposed to be “tough defense.”

Auburn would have the momentum early in the first quarter holding Bama to only 2-yards on their first possession. Auburn’s offense also responded with a long drive that ended in a Teddy Hall touchdown run to open the scoring 7-0. On that drive Teddy completed 2 of 4 passes and ran several times. Alabama would respond with a drive of their own as Alabama quarterback David Hall found the left pylon to tie the game 7-7. Following an interception by corner Wendi Dockery, Alabama would take the lead 14-7 thanks to a deep ball to Marc from David. Auburn would return the deep ball favor as running back Mike Hall out leaped the defender to tie the game again at 14.

Alabama opened the 2nd quarter with another nice touchdown drive to take the lead again 21-14 after wide-out Cindie  found the end zone on a 4-yard catch for the score. Then came the Auburn meltdown. The Alabama defense stuffed a would-be trick play aided by the Auburn quarterback and running back which sent the ball sailing through the back of the end zone for the safety. Leading 23-14, the Tide then marched right back down the field on a misdirection pass play which found Marc Hall wide-open who then took it in for his second score of the game to extend the lead 30-14. Again, Alabama’s defense was able to force another safety as defensive end Gretchen Hall sacked Auburn’s quarterback in the end zone to take a 32-14 lead into halftime.

Auburn tried to mount an early 3rd quarter comeback by running the football. Teddy would scramble in for his second touchdown run to close the lead 32-21. But that was as close as Auburn would ever get. Facing a critical 4th down play, Bama converted a 15-yard pass play to Marc to set up another touchdown run by quarterback David Hall to extend the lead 39-21.
The misery was just beginning for the Auburn’s offense and defense in the 4th. With the offense failing to sustain drives and the defense surrendering yards in chunks, Alabama would continue its assault. Alabama opened the 4th with another quarterback touchdown run to begin the route largely in due part to a crushing blow by wide-out Cindie  leveling Auburn’s Teddy Hall. Trailing 46-21, Auburn’s Teddy was picked off in the end zone this time by David which was intended for Richard Doviak. Alabama would again strike deep this time from running back Wendi Dockery catching the long ball and getting behind the already withered Auburn defense. Leading 53-21, Alabama’s reserves were already in as they gave up a touchdown pass from Mike to Kim to allow the score to look better. Alabama would then run up to score thanks to a Cindie  1-yard run that ended the game 60-28.

Alabama’s Cindie  was voted as games MVP despite breaking a finger midway through the game. Cindie led the Tide in receptions with 10 and caught one touchdown pass and ran another in. Cindie was also credited for the crushing blow on Auburn’s safety that also sprung another score. Marc Hall was second in receptions with 8 and also had two scores. Megan, Gretchen, and Wendi combined for 7 receptions and one touchdown.

Auburn’s Teddy Hall completed 7 of 29 passes with one touchdown and two interceptions. Most of his damage came on the ground as the big quarterback rushed for 16 times and had two touchdown runs. Auburn running back Mike Hall led the Tigers in receptions with six and had a career low one touchdown. Jonathon, Priscilla, and Kim combined for 5 catches and one touchdown.
Alabama’s defense suffocated the Auburn offense most of the game. Bama was able to force two interceptions, two sacks, and two safeties. Auburn’s only defensive stats came from defensive end Jonathon Hall racking up two sacks.
